The former first lady of Malawi Gertrude Mutharika has organised thanks giving interreligious women prayers at the family’s private home in Mangochi district on Saturday, 8 February, 2025.
Chairperson of the organising committee for the prayers Treza Masauli,says the prayers are organised for women belonging to different faiths in the district to thank God for His endless love for the people in the country, with much focus on women.
Masauli has cited peace and good rains to be worth appreciating stating,most people especially women as suffering in countries which are rocked by conflicts in Africa.

“A lot of women are suffering in Africa because of the conflicts that are taking place in their countries so her excellence madam Gertrude Mutharika thought it wise to organize these special prayer”,said Masauli.
She said at the event scheduled for 1:00 P.M at the Page House,Madam Mutharika will herself be the guest of honor and the event will also be spiced up by gospel musician Phales Maliki Mang’anda of Daughters of Zion.
“For the dressing code,women are expected to put on attires that will help to identify them from their denominations”,she said.
The prayers are organised under the theme, ‘Solely Giving Thanks to the Lord Almighty for His Endless Mercies Toward Humankind, Including Women’.
She pointed out that the event will also provide an opportunity for women to express gratitude for the New Year.
